Executive Coaching for Lawyers

You bill the hours, bring in the work, manage the people and referee the partners — and the firm still runs on you personally. I coach attorneys and firm owners the way I coach founders: rebuild the machine, so the practice serves your life instead of consuming it.

Who this is for

The firm runs on your hours

Revenue is you, business development is you, quality control is you. Growth just means more of your life gets billed.

The partnership has friction

Compensation, direction, workload — the conversations that matter most keep getting deferred to next quarter.

You built a job, not a firm

Take a two-week vacation and the practice stalls. That's not a firm — that's a treadmill with letterhead.

Why coaching for attorneys usually falls short

Most coaching for lawyers comes in two flavors. Practice-management consulting — software, intake scripts, marketing funnels — which optimizes the machine without ever asking whether the person running it can keep this up. Or career coaching that works on you — confidence, work-life balance, mindset — while the structure that's actually generating the eighty-hour weeks goes untouched.

I'm not a lawyer. I'm a founder. I built a company into 2,000+ retail stores across 26 countries, and I know exactly what it is to be the professional the whole operation depends on — where every dollar of revenue traces back to your personal output, and stepping away feels impossible. The way out for me wasn't working harder. It was rebuilding the machine: real delegation, decision rights, an operating rhythm, and an economic model that didn't require all of me.

That's what executive coaching looks like when it's built for attorneys: we work on the firm — leverage, team, partner alignment, the business behind the practice — and on you: what you want the next decade of law to look like, and what you're no longer willing to trade for it.

What's different in 90 days

  1. 01A three-year picture of the practice — and the life around it — specific enough to build against.
  2. 02Eight to twelve hours a week back — tracked, not estimated — pulled out of work your team should own.
  3. 03Real leverage: associates and staff carrying what they should, with quality you can actually trust.
  4. 04The deferred partner conversations had — compensation, direction, workload — prepared and done.
  5. 05A twelve-month plan for the firm with quarterly targets, and real accountability to hit them.

Law firm business coaching, run on the Vital Framework

Five parts, run in order. It's the same system I use with founders and executives — pointed at your practice and the life you practice from.

01

Vision

A specific picture of the firm in three years — chosen, not inherited from the billable-hour default.

02

Inspiration

Why you practice — said plainly enough to steer which clients and matters you say yes to.

03

Team

Associates and staff with real authority, and the honest conversation about who isn't carrying weight.

04

Alignment

Your calendar, your partners and your priorities pointed at the same quarter.

05

Leadership Systems

The meetings, metrics and decision rights that let the firm run when you step away to live.

About Katie

I trained as an industrial designer on a General Motors scholarship, then launched a baby products company called Puj in 2008 — into the worst consumer market in a generation. It worked. We reached 2,000+ US retail stores, 26 countries and more than a million customers.

It also nearly took me apart. I know what it is to carry an operation that runs on your personal output — and to be worth, in your own eyes, only what you produced that quarter. Rebuilding my life around what actually matters is the reason I coach the way I do.

Now I coach founders, executives and professionals through the Vital Framework, and I host the podcast What's Working Now.

How it works

STEP 01

Book a call

Pick a time on my calendar. Five minutes, no payment, no funnel.

STEP 02

The diagnostic call

We map the real constraint — in the firm and underneath it. You leave with something useful either way.

STEP 03

Begin

We start on the first structural change that week. If it's a fit, we build from there.

Questions before you book

What does an executive coach for lawyers actually do?+

We work on two things at once: the business of the firm — leverage, team, partner alignment, the economics behind the practice — and the attorney carrying it: your calendar, your judgment, and what you want the next decade of law to look like. Most lawyers don't need more discipline. They need a firm that isn't designed to consume them.

How is this different from law practice management consulting?+

Consultants optimize the machine — intake, software, marketing — and hand you a report. I work with you, week over week, on the machine and the person running it, until the structure actually changes. The tactics only stick when the operator changes with them.

Do you work with solo attorneys or firm partners?+

Both. Solo and small-firm owners get the founder playbook — leverage, team, economics. Partners in larger firms work on the parts you control: your book, your team, partner dynamics, and the design of the career you actually want.

You're not a lawyer. Why would coaching for lawyers work from you?+

Because your hardest problems aren't legal — they're structural and personal, and they're the same ones every founder-led business faces: everything depends on you, delegation feels risky, and the people conversations keep getting deferred. That's the machine I've built, run and rebuilt. Your bar association can teach you law; I help you build the firm.

Is this confidential?+

Completely. What we discuss stays between us — not with your partners, your clients or anyone else. Honest counsel only works when it's safe to be honest.

How much does it cost?+

Pricing depends on format and length of engagement, and I quote it on the diagnostic call once I know what you actually need. I'll tell you on that call if I don't think the work will pay for itself.

Practice law. Own a firm. Keep your life.

Book a diagnostic call — I'll tell you straight if I'm not the right coach for you.
